About

My name is Sarah Shaw, and I’m an illustrator and art educator from Portland, Maine. In 2010, I graduated with a BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Since then, I’ve worked and studied in South Korea, volunteered with the Peace Corps in Cartagena, Colombia, and currently, I am a secondary art teacher in Kathmandu, Nepal.

My work is mainly inspired by traveling and living abroad, often focusing on the daily lives of people and their environments. Some other common themes include: books, food, maps, and eavesdropped conversations. I experiment with an array of tools and techniques, but the majority of my drawings are created with: Faber-Castell Pitt pens, Copic and Prismacolor markers and Prismacolor colored pencils.
